Captain's Log - 30/01/2020
A quiet week with two outstanding performances.
Phoenix Running -The 12 Labours of Hercules (Nemian Lion)
I have copy and pasted the official blurb to explain the latest mad thing that Peggers has entered
"HERCULES Labour One
On our usual January weekend in Essex we have something rather special lined up with yet another new type of Phoenix medal up for grabs this year. As we did in 2019, we launched this one under the code name 'Challenger One', but it's now time to reveal that the real name of this event series is 'HERCULES - the 12 labours'.
Hercules will therefore be a series of twelve runs, or should we say 'labours' for you to complete across 2020. Each one is an awesome running event in its own right with its own awesome medal (we're calling this the journey-medal), so you can choose to complete one, two, three or perhaps all of them!
We'll be taking you on an epic journey as you complete the 12 labours of Hercules; from the very first trail where you'll face the Nemean Lion; through to the likes of the Lernean Hydra and the Erymanthian Boar; all the way to the final showdown in December 2020 with Cerberus!
Medal = EPIC - nuff said.
“The first trial of Hercules is one of our 6 hour timed events, with a marathon specific option, where you choose from 5km to ultra marathon, you can complete as many, or as few, laps as you like of a 5.3km, 3.28 mile, looped course along the beautiful River Stort waterways. We welcome all abilities of runner - complete one lap and you're both a finisher and a winner in our eyes, or keep going and see how far you can get in the full 6 hour time limit and everyone gets the fabulous bespoke finishers' medal.”

Hadleigh Legacy 10k
When the name Hadleigh is included in a race title you know it will be hard work. The elevation gain for this race was 1,042 ft, so it is one of the toughest 10k around here. So an excellent effort from Jacqui!
